What is Business Simulation

Orbic Game

Business simulations are communication tools to experience virtually the general idea of a company’s management and job flow. Performance targets for simulations are set based on each company’s key performance indicator, and teams or individuals try to achieve these performance targets using limited resources such as people, money, and time. (e.g. In a standard game, a team of four to six members becomes a virtual company which competes against other teams (companies) trying to maximize profits at the end of a game.)

Participants obtain new points of view, skills, and business thinking through business simulation experience.

The Three conditions best to develop business simulations

Young employees are better than Mid-career Employees
In particular, business simulations have impact on young employees who more willingly and enjoyably engage in the game.
×Because mid-career employees’ initial feelings about business simulations are that games just for fun, a little encouragement will be necessary to make them take this seriously.
Experience is more important than Knowledge
Because several years of experience are compressed, it takes a minimum of two to three hours to understand the whole picture and the cause-and-effect relationships.
As participants use the PDCA cycle themselves, they can realize and learn the most valuable things for themselves.
×Business simulations are not suitable if you would like participants to learn some tips or know-how easily in an hour or so. Or, if you would like them to learn a lot of information quickly.
Self-manufactured tools run by in-company lecturers are better than outside tools run by visiting lecturers
Because operations are systematic so as not to be influenced by the quality of lecturer, the learning effect is stable. It is relatively easy for internal lecturers to operate by themselves.
×Initially developing the educational material is relatively costly and time-consuming.

We are developing fully-customized business simulations to fit your company’s business challenges.
